My sister just had her baby April 29th and I am here as the proud Aunt to post pictures. He is the most beautiful baby with the biggest cheeks I have ever seen. He weighed 8lbs3oz and was 20 1/4inches long. They named him Ty Christopher. Addie LOVES her new cousin so much...however Asher is less excited but I know once Ty is a bit older and able to get in mischief they will be great friends.

Easter time!

Easter weekend was so full of things to do by the time Monday rolled around we pretty much just stayed in bed. Good Friday I woke up and got to work at the early hour of 6am till 5pm with no breaks and lets say I was so exhausted but I went straight from work and brought the kids to my mom's house to dye eggs with Avery. The kids had lots of fun and we poured ourselves into bed that night around 10. The next morning was spent at my Maw Maw's house for a fun filled Easter celebration of egg hunting and gumbo...yum. We spent all day there and had so much fun. Sunday after church we headed over to my Dad's house in New Orleans we Wendy made us a great dinner and the kids had an Easter egg hunt. After the hunt we walked across the street to the cemetery and the kids played and looked at all the old tombs. That probably sounds weird to most but being that I was raised in the city I love the cemeteries there and it is a very peaceful place for me. We also watched a movie and just had a ton of fun. Here are a few pictures of our Easter weekend. Mental note to self...don't give Asher so many boiled eggs next time, we nearly had to evacuate later that night because he smelled so bad.

Anyone who has talked to me within the past two years knows I LOVE TWILIGHT. I love the books and I loved the movie. The love has often led to my ridicule especially by my adoring husband (by the way he likes the books just as much as me). With that said when Asher woke up with his hair looking quite similar to Edward I couldn't help but try to take some pictures. He didn't want to take pictures since he and Addie are extremely sick Asher even had 103.2 fever last night however I snapped a few photos anyway.

Sorry about not blogging for so long I have been part sick, part lazy, and part busy. My kids are napping and the house is fairly clean and it is work out time. I work out everyday usually but today my legs and butt are still sore and I decided blogging seemed way more fun then excercising.

So whats new with the Meyers' Family you may ask? Well we are buying our first home. I am so super excited we go to the closing in less than two weeks!!! I am including some pics of the outside of the house. The inside is very nice too but I wanted painted and I will post pictures of the inside when that is done. The paint isn't awful now it is just too dark. Anyways....yeah we are buying a house.

Another new thing is Matt got his acceptance letter for college. I am so proud of him. College has always been part of the plan but has been put on hold for a while. Now it is finally happening and we couldn't be happier.

The Sweetest thing!

I feel very lucky to have very complimentary family. My husband compliments me even when I don't deserve it and Asher has always been my little sweetie. However the sweetest thing that was ever told to me was by my little angel Addie. I guess you will have to know one thing before I tell what she told me. That one thing is that despite my best efforts she LOVES T.V. I believe it is an addiction because I love TV too where as my husband and son can care less for TV. Even though Addie and I love T.V. we don't spend hours in front of it a day. Just a movie or cartoon each day but no more than 2 hours and many days none at all. That being said, last night I was snuggling her in her bed trying to get her to fall asleep when she turned to me squeezing me tight and said, "You are the best mommy. I love you even if you are mad at me. I even will love you if I never get to watch T.V. ever again."

It was the sweetest thing I have ever heard. I am not quite sure why she chose those examples of adoration for me for I have not been mad at her nor taken away her t.v. but if she will love me even if I do I know that must be a lot.

MOM!!! I need MORE hot chocolate

My kids were introduced to hot chocolate this past winter. I was happy to share it with them being that hot chocolate is one of my favorite things to drink late at night and if they drink it all there is less of a chance of it going to my thighs. Well I always just buy whatever cheap hot cocoa is on sale at the store but my husband thought it was time for me to broaden my hot chocolate horizon and insisted that hot chocolate from the gas station is the best out there. He brought some home for the kids and I and it was thick to say the least. The kids of course loved it and kept screaming that they needed more hot chocolate. I just thought it was too cute to pass up a photo op. with them and their chocolate mustache. P.S. In case you are wondering I have no clue how Asher got it on his head.

Best Cornbread Ever!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but my lovely children broke my camera lens and I was waiting to get a new one. I got it yesterday so I couldn't wait to test out my new lens. I chose my cheesy pepper cornbread as my subject and decided to share it with whomever reads my blog.

Ingredients: 2 tbsps unsalted butter, 4 tbsp veg. oil in all, 1 1/2 cups chopped onions(red or yellow you choose.),1/2 cup seeded and chopped fresh poblano peppers, 1/2 cup seeded and chopped fresh Anaheim pepper,1/2 cup seeded and chopped fresh green or red jalapeno pepper,3/4 cup corn flour, 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup cornmeal, 1 tbsp plus 2 tsp baking powder, 1 large egg, 1 1/2 cup milk, 5 tbsp unsalted butter(melted and cooled to room temp., 1 cup cheddar cheese grated, 1 cup monterey jack cheese grated in all.

seasonings( combine all seasoning in a small bowl)2 1/4 tsp salt, 1 1/4 tsp new mexico chile pepper, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp ground dried chipotle chile peppers, 3/4 tsp ground cumin, 3/4 tsp garlic powder

In a 12 in skillet on high heat combine the butter with 2 tbsp of the oil. As soon as the butter melts add onions, all peppers and 1tbsp plus 2 tsp of seasonings. Stir well, then cook, stirring occasionally, until veggies begin to brown, remove from heat and set aside.

preheat oven to 350

while veggies are cooling make the batter. Combine corn flour, all purpose flour sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and remaining seasoning mix in a large bowl. add milk, egg, melted butter, 1/2 cup cheddar and monterey cheesees and vegetable mix till combined.

Pour 2 tbsp of oit in 12in. cast iron skillet and roll around so oil covers the bottom. When the oil begins to smoke Pour your batter into the hot pan and take off the heat. Sprinkle the top with remaining cheese.

Bake till done about 30 min.

This is why parents can't take showers!

Very dirty and sweaty from an intense workout session I couldn't wait to shower off. Matt just got home from work and was sitting on our bed talking to his mom. I decided to hope in the shower. I should have asked Matt to check on the kids before I got in. Next time maybe I will listen to my motherly intuition that when the kids are quiet, something is wrong. Well I get out the shower and I am toweling off when matt starts laughing and tell Asher to go see mommy...uhoh. He turns and flashes me a great smile and there on his forehead Addie signed her name the best way she could. Asher would stay still for me for nothing in the world but for his sister he must have stood still quite a while for her to inscribe her name. anyways it was funny.

For Christmas my little brother so lovingly decided to send Asher his beloved favorite flash costume. Asher loves it just as much as my brother did and I thought everyone might enjoy some pictures of flash! Everytime Asher puts it one he runs as fast as he can around the house but stopped to pose for some pictures and let me check out his muscles!

Addie my Princess..Watch out world!!

Anyone who has ever met my darling Addie knows at least one thing about her and that is she is a princess. She doesn't like to be dirty yet doesn't ever want to clean either. She loves everything sparkly and shiney. She loves to go on Daddy daughter dates in which she insists on wearing way too much blush, lipstick, and a dress. She recently convinced me to buy her press-on disney princess nails and walked around the house tapping on things and saying, "Oh no mommy another nail broke!"

This morning Addie learned in which another way she was a princess. This morning was Addie's first day in Sunbeams! I tried to get her excited this morning by taking pictures of her but she wasn't too happy. She wanted to stay in nursery where she could play and rule over the other children/her peseants and eat snacks. I was expecting her to hate me when we picked her up from sunbeams but I will say a bit surprised at her new teacher's brillance Addie loved it because she found out she was indeed a real princess. She strolled up to me whereing a paper crown and proclaimed loudly "I am a princess because Heavenly Father is a king. I am his daughter." She is now excited to wear her crown continuously and to keep going to sunbeams. I tried to snap a picture of her with her crown but she told me "Mommy, I am very tired and I am going to lay in my bed."

I never argue when she wants to go to bed, it happens so rarely.

christmas break

Here are a few pictures from this past christmas. We had a great one. I decided that since I went all out for Thanksgiving that I was not cooking for Christmas but instead just stay in jammies and play with the kids all day. We had a blast. The kids loved all the gifts Santa brought them and that relatives sent them. We did make cookies for Santa Christmas Eve and all I can say is "Dear Santa, I am sorry that there are not sprinkles or icinig left on the cookies but the kids got hungry."

Matt is always so impressed by my "creativity" to find things for the kids to do that often he forgets to use his own brain. Well I came home from a lengthy doctor's expecting to find what I usually find when I come home. A spotless house, and the kids and matt either running around,or dancing instead I came home to a semi clean house and a flooded dining room. Matt was so creative he dumped the toys out of one of the kids bins packed it full of snow and hid little prizes throughout. then he got all of asher's play tools and let the kids be arceologists and dig in the snow. They had a blast and it was something fun to do while stuck in the house.

Addie had her very first dance recital yesterday. We were so excited because she loves to dance around the house and when I watch her at her class she always does great. Well I think I fed my baby princess to the wolves because she did not enjoy herself yesterday.

Her class was the first dance and soon as the curtain rose Addie covered her eyes and looked very annoyed. She picked up her little phone and scowled towards her teacher who was trying to get Addie to dance.

By the time the second number came I was hoping that she would be used to the idea and would be able to perform. Well not exactly. The curtain rose and as the ballerina filed onto the stage Addie came out with her head down and proclaimed very loudly, "OH NO NOT AGAIN!!!" Yes she defiantly stole the show with that comment everyone heard her and began laughing. She then stood there with her ears covered for the whole number. She was not happy about the performance but still she was the cutest one up there. She did however enjoy the cookies that were served after the recital and decided she might like dance recitals after all.

Christmas Potluck cake

Last night Matt and I collaborated on a Christmas cake to bring to his work Christmas potluck. I asked him what kind of things were being brought to the potluck expecting some of the traditional Christmas food (mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, ham). Instead I was told hot wings, Adobo, and spaghetti. Yeah, I was making a face like you are probably making now....yuck! Well I said ok I will make a Christmas cake. I have been wanting to make one anyways but didn't wish to consume the calories. I meant to spend a lot of time making a beautiful cake but instead holiday craziness came in the way and I had ended up making it last night. Matt told me how he wanted it to look and also said he wanted a snowman in the middle. I gave him snowman duty and I have to admit he did a great job. I know a snowman seems like an easy thing to make but my husband has the artistic ability of a newborn so I was very impressed by him making the fondant snowman. I did the rest including hand painting the trees and candy canes. Though you can't really tell by the pictures I also used piping gel and some sugar shavings to make it look like the snow man was melting. Though there was a thousand ideas in my head we had limited time. I still think it came out cute.

Snow days

The snow has arrived here in Washington and I have to admit I was really dreading it. Last year was awful because the kids I think were still too young to actually have fun in it. We would spend an hour getting them dressed, 15 minutes of whiny playtime and two hours clean up. I was not enthusiastic at all for snow this year but it came despite my wishes and we actually had a blast. Well Addie only spent about 10 minutes outside then she decided she would rather be inside drinking chocolate milk and watching kung fu panda. Asher however spent about two hours outside with Matt and I, and some friends sledding, and building a fort with the guys. I guess it is time for me to admit it to myself and the world that yes snow can be fun and I enjoyed it. Here are a few pictures of sledding and I will have to take a picture of the huge fort Matt built. I am guessing it may still be there in time for summer. Yes it is that big, so I have time.

New Babysitter?

For Christmas Matt's parents bought our kids this little indoor kids trampoline. It arrived yesterday and Matt and I were too impatient to wait till Christmas to put it together for the kids. Well two and a half hours later.......The kids were finally able to take their first jumps. It was a big hit and we let them jump all night until they poured themselves into bed.

They love jumping so much that there is always at least one of the jumping at all times. It is the perfect toy for a Washington child right now because of the yucky weather. All I know is that this toy is a blessing to my sanity right now during the busy holiday season. Big Thanks to Paw Paw and Grandma from the whole family!

We never got around to taking christmas pictures of the kids so I decided to take them to the mall and take pictures with santa. What kid doesn't love santa right? Well Asher doesn't love santa yet. Addie remember fondly of the gifts he left last year and was excited to see him. She even wanted to bring HIM a present and was mad at me when I told her no. The santa at the mall was great he even showed her a magic trick and now Addie is definantly a believer is santa's magic. Asher only got close enough when santa was looking the other way to steal a candy cane out of the basket. Since Asher opted not to take pictures with santa I took a few of him today in front of the tree. That will have to do for this year.

The kids went to the dentist for the first time yesterday. I was expecting the worse, screaming, crying, kicking, whining, etc. What I didn't expect was the to like it. Yes I said like it. The dental office made it so much fun for them. The each got to pick out their own special toothbrush and prizes for being so well behaved.

Addie has a cavity in the front but we are getting it fixed for her next week. Asher had no cavities but does have an under bite that will have to be corrected with jaw correction and braces when he gets older. The under bite isn't that bad so braces might be enough. Anyways the kids are already asking to go back to the dentist.

Matt's early christmas

Matt has wanted footed pjs since I've known him. I have always thought that was a strange request and laughed it off. Well while "santa" was out shopping on black friday I found footed pjs. Matt was so happy he just about ripped his clothes off so he could wear his pjs. He puts them on as soon as he gets home and wears them constantly. I hope he will let me wash them. He also wants to cut a butt flap out in the back but I have to draw the line somewhere...right?

The truth is I don't know me. Well sometimes I do or at least I think I do and then like a slap in the face my mind turns on me and I start travelling in a total different direction. I was recently diagnosed with bipolar I. I actually think of it as someone giving a name to my madness. I am setting up a new blog that is coming from me.

My whole life I have only shown what people wanted me to. I can't help trying to figure out what people want me to say and saying it. I guess I feel that if I always said what I thought I would have been committed a long time ago. Maybe it is just because I hate explaining myself. I hate saying that I am sad and not knowing why. People just don't understand that I can be floating on cloud nine and the next wishing there was a way to kill myself without damaging my husband and kids. I feel like for so many years my mind has tortured me to the point of no return that my true self is locked up screaming to get out by find myself wandering in blackness.

Since my diagnosis I see three psychologists on a weekly basis that try to get my meds right and keeping my from going off the deep end. Sadly the deep end for me is like a wick burning at two ends. I can either go down which is way down not being able to live with myself to way up where I go a period of time in an altered mania the permanently damages all who know me. I take medicine that makes me gain weight and also feel lifeless sometimes and it is often a struggle but then I think of my kids and my wonderful husband and I continue to pop pills that are suppose to make me a better person. I really hope it is working though I am not quite sure.

Well I think that can explain me a little or at least to the point that hopefully you will understand. If you are reading this I guess I am sorry to you that you know me because despite my best efforts I will probably hurt you some kind of way with my mood swings. If you can except me for me and my flaws I thank you so much I really do need you. I sometimes don't want to talk to anyone but it doesn't mean that I am angry I just sometimes feel disconnected.

So here my new blog! I thought I about naming it naked to remind me to stay true to myself and stop trying to mirror what others want but, naked is kind of an inappropriate name being that I will be using this as a family blog so enjoy or not whatever you feel like I won't judge.
